You will review complex 3D mechanical CAD assemblies and help create training materials for AI models. The work involves understanding how components fit, move, and interact, then turning that knowledge into precise questions and answers.
The duties and qualifications should be reviewed before applying because the role is also identified as a CAD Design Expert Instructor position.
- Analyze component fit, motion, interactions, joints, mates, constraints, degrees of freedom, clearances, tolerances, and design intent.
- Create challenging questions about mechanical assemblies with clear, verifiable answers.
- Explain engineering reasoning and complex mechanical concepts in clear written and spoken English.
- Review technical questions and solutions for accuracy and consistency, then incorporate feedback to improve the materials.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role open to candidates in multiple countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The work requires less than 20 hours per week.
- Pay: $40 to $90 per hour.
- Location: Remote; open to candidates in countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, and South Africa.
- Language: Professional fluency in English, in both written and spoken communication.
- Experience: Hands-on mechanical design experience, ideally five or more years working with complex, multi-part CAD assemblies.
- CAD tools: Strong proficiency with at least one parametric tool such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Siemens NX, Inventor, Fusion 360, Onshape, or Solid Edge.
- Technical skills: Experience with moving mechanical systems, assembly constraints, mechanical motion, component interactions, tolerances, design intent, and precise technical solutions.
- Helpful background: FreeCAD, teaching or mentoring, reviewing mechanical design work, creating engineering assessments or educational materials, or a CAD credential such as CSWP or CSWE.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
The hiring platform's application for this job asks for your resume, your LinkedIn profile, your phone number, your location and answers to 11 screening questions.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence, including writing questions, reviewing answers, and checking whether model outputs are accurate. People with strong technical experience help create reliable examples and evaluations that improve how AI systems work.
