About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Mathematics AI Response Evaluator to support AI research through rigorous mathematical question design and evaluation of AI-generated content. You will assess responses for accuracy, logical consistency, proof construction, and mathematical rigor, helping improve how AI systems handle advanced mathematical reasoning. This is an ongoing, project-based contract opportunity designed to fit alongside academic research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

What you will do
- Design rigorous, domain-relevant questions grounded in advanced mathematics.
- Review AI-generated mathematical responses for correctness and logical consistency.
- Evaluate proof construction, formal logic, and the quality of mathematical reasoning.
- Provide clear feedback that distinguishes valid reasoning from errors or unsupported conclusions.

Required skills
- Doctoral study or a completed doctoral degree in mathematics or a closely related field.
- Strong background in advanced mathematical reasoning.
- Demonstrated ability to write and assess mathematical proofs.
- Familiarity with formal logic and rigorous standards of mathematical accuracy.

Helpful background
Current PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and mathematics graduates are well suited to this work. Experience in teaching, academic research, or industry work that involves formal mathematical analysis can support success in the role.

Work arrangement
The opportunity is fully remote with a flexible, asynchronous schedule. There is no minimum hour requirement, and contributors typically participate for approximately 5-20 hours per week when an active project is available. The work is project-based and can be completed alongside other professional or academic commitments.

Compensation
The opportunity offers hourly contract work with pay of up to $75 per hour.
