The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Maltese Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality and consistency across Maltese AI training projects. You will review AI-generated Maltese content as well as trainer and QA submissions, evaluate work against project guidelines and project-specific rubrics, and provide precise written feedback that helps contributors improve.

You will also help maintain scalable QA processes, align language guidance across trainers and reviewers, respond to questions about wording and edge cases, and identify recurring quality gaps. The role suits an experienced Maltese language reviewer who enjoys detailed analysis, clear communication, and building dependable quality systems.

What You'll Do

• Review Maltese-language items and trainer or QA submissions for quality issues.
• Evaluate accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, tone, register, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, formatting, and overall quality.
• Provide structured written feedback that enables trainers and reviewers to correct and improve their work.
• Communicate quality updates, expectations, and guidance to trainers and QAs.
• Answer questions about wording, register, translation fidelity, code-switching, terminology, and language edge cases.
• Maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, onboarding materials, and other quality documentation.
• Support contributor onboarding, training calls, and activation of contributors who are not working consistently.
• Identify recurring quality issues and help improve workflows and QA processes.

Required Qualifications

This role requires strong professional experience with Maltese language review or localization work. You should be able to make consistent judgments against detailed rubrics and explain subtle language issues clearly in writing.

• Native or near-native Maltese proficiency with strong reading and writing ability.
• Strong English communication for project guidelines, quality feedback, and team coordination.
• Experience in Maltese writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
• Strong command of Maltese grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, tone, register, code-switching, and cultural context.
• Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and provide structured feedback.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
• Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, or project management tools.

Helpful Background

• Professional experience reviewing Maltese translation, localization, or content QA work.
