About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect freelancers with AI training work, help contributors build unified portfolios, and support long-term freelance careers in this fast-growing field.

We hire directly for this project: when you work with OpenTrain you join a community shaping how modern AI systems understand everyday places and experiences.

About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data collection or data labeling) is the human work that teaches models how to interpret and describe the world. Contributors record, narrate, and annotate real-world examples so models learn to generate accurate, helpful responses.

This work is largely remote and flexible — many contributors choose hours that fit their schedule. Projects range from entry-level to specialist tasks; this role is an accessible way to get started creating short-form video data for AI.

The Role

We are hiring freelance Video Creators to produce short walk-and-talk videos of public places in your city. Each video should be a natural, conversational on-camera guide that clearly identifies the location and captures steady video with clear audio.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role for contributors located in the United States. Time commitment is flexible and typically under 20 hours per week.

  • Record 1–5 minute walk-and-talk videos featuring parks, landmarks, markets, cultural spots, and other public places.
  • Speak naturally on camera as if guiding a viewer in person; include a clear introduction, middle, and conclusion.
  • Provide accurate location details (name plus address or coordinates) with each submission.
  • Work in safe, public locations and follow privacy and safety best practices while filming.

What You'll Do

Follow creative guidance to craft friendly, conversational narration while walking through a public space. Capture steady footage and audible voice using your smartphone or camera.

Submit each clip with location metadata and follow project guidelines for structure and length. Maintain clear audio, stable framing, and honest, factual descriptions of the place.

  • Film smooth, steady walk-and-talks using a smartphone or camera (gimbals and basic stabilization recommended but not required).
  • Ensure spoken English is clear and conversational; avoid reading scripts word-for-word.
  • Include location name and address or GPS coordinates for every video.
  • Adhere to privacy rules: do not film private conversations or identifiable personal information without consent.

Requirements

To apply you must be located in the United States and comfortable speaking on camera in clear, natural English. You also need a recording device that produces good video and audio and a reliable internet connection for uploads.

This role is entry-level and emphasizes reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow creative and safety guidelines.

  • Based in the United States (work involves filming public places in your city).
  • Comfortable speaking on camera in clear spoken English.
  • Own a smartphone or camera with good video and audio quality and reliable internet for uploads.
  • Able to film steady footage and follow guidelines and deadlines.
  • Awareness of public-filming safety and privacy best practices.

Helpful Background

Prior experience is not required but useful. Candidates with vlogging, social media content creation, tourism, performing arts, or basic video editing experience will be comfortable in this role.

Familiarity with short-form formats like YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or Instagram Reels can help you produce concise, engaging clips that meet project goals.

  • Experience creating short-form video or basic editing is a plus.
  • Comfort with on-camera presence, storytelling, or guiding viewers through a location is advantageous.

How It Works

OpenTrain will provide creative guidance and submission instructions. You record walk-and-talk videos on location, attach the required location details, and submit each clip through OpenTrain for review and acceptance.

As a contractor you choose when you work (under 20 hours/week typical). Follow project guidelines and quality standards; accepted submissions contribute to AI training datasets that help models better describe real places.

  • Assignments are contracted and part-time; availability and schedules are flexible.
  • Submit videos with location metadata and follow provided content and safety guidelines.
  • Accepted submissions are used to train AI systems to understand and describe real-world locations.
