About this role. OpenTrain is recruiting a legal professional writing specialist for AI training work focused on creating and evaluating realistic legal-domain scenarios and professional content. You will refine business, academic, technical, and career-related legal use cases by applying legal terminology, research methods, documentation practices, U.S. laws, regulations, and jurisdictional standards. The work combines substantial legal expertise with careful review of accuracy, compliance risk, clarity, and professional realism.

What you will do. Create realistic legal professional-writing and domain scenarios for varied audiences and use cases. Develop clear, structured, accurate, and well-supported legal content. Apply appropriate legal terminology, tone, formatting, and U.S.-specific legal standards. Review legal content for accuracy, clarity, consistency, completeness, and professional quality. Identify unsupported legal claims, ambiguities, compliance risks, and jurisdictional issues. Provide expert feedback that improves the realism and quality of legal-related tasks. Collaborate with project teams to evaluate and refine professional legal use cases.

Required skills. Strong expertise in at least one legal practice area, such as corporate, commercial, finance, litigation, regulatory, employment, intellectual property, technology, healthcare, or public law. Experience creating, reviewing, analyzing, or managing professional legal content. Strong legal research, analytical, and issue-spotting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly. Working knowledge of U.S. legal practices, regulations, compliance requirements, and jurisdictional considerations. Ability to assess legal accuracy, professional tone, documentation quality, and audience suitability.

Helpful background. A J.D. or equivalent legal qualification and active or previous admission to a U.S. state bar are preferred where applicable. Helpful experience includes legal research databases, contract lifecycle management tools, e-discovery platforms, legal technology, legal memoranda, contracts, case summaries, compliance documents, policies, and professional communications. Experience in regulated industries or cross-functional work with business, compliance, finance, HR, product, technology, or operations teams is also valuable.

Engagement details. This is a contractor engagement requiring 40 hours per week, including 8 hours of overlap with Pacific Time, and may last up to 5 weeks.
