OpenTrain AI is seeking a Legal AI Task Evaluation Expert to create, review, and improve challenging tasks that represent practical legal work. You will analyze legal issues, apply laws and principles, assess the accuracy and usefulness of responses, and refine outputs for clarity.
This contractor opportunity is part time, requires 20+ hours per week, and is available for a short-term engagement of up to eight weeks. The work is conducted in English and is open worldwide.

What You'll Do
You will combine legal expertise with structured quality review for AI systems. The work requires practical judgment, careful analysis, and the ability to explain why a legal response is accurate, useful, or deficient.
Relevant documents may include commercial contracts, legal agreements, policies, and related materials. You may also handle complex legal matters, identify risks, and escalate genuine edge cases or unclear evaluation criteria to the appropriate expert lead.
- Produce high-difficulty expert legal tasks and gold-standard solutions
- Review and calibrate other contributors' work
- Evaluate responses for legal accuracy, clarity, usefulness, and sound application of legal principles
- Draft, review, negotiate, and revise commercial contracts, agreements, policies, and related documents
- Identify legal risks and provide practical recommendations
- Escalate edge cases and ambiguous evaluation criteria when appropriate
- Maintain day-to-day quality across assigned evaluation work
Requirements
Candidates should have around 5 to 15 years of legal practice experience, ideally at Senior Associate, Counsel, or an equivalent level. A Juris Doctor, active bar admission, or an equivalent legal qualification and professional license applicable to your region is required.
You should be comfortable interpreting laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance and translating them into practical recommendations. Strong written communication, analytical reasoning, legal research, and risk assessment skills are essential.
