About AI training work

AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human side of how modern AI systems learn. Contributors review outputs, create high-quality reference answers, and rate or rewrite model responses so models learn to produce helpful, accurate, and culturally appropriate text.

This work is 100% remote, often flexible and part-time, and is accessible to people with language skills, attention to detail, or relevant domain experience. It’s a way to work on the cutting edge of AI while setting your own schedule.

The role

As a Kannada Language Quality Reviewer you will evaluate AI-generated Kannada content and produce gold-standard answers and precise feedback. Tasks include rating multiple model responses, rewriting outputs, detecting mistranslations or hallucinations, and ensuring tone and register match the prompt.

This is an hourly remote contractor role for contributors able to commit 20+ hours per week. OpenTrain AI hires contractors for this project in the countries listed below.

What you'll do day-to-day

You will read, compare, and rate AI responses in Kannada and write clear, actionable feedback and rewrites. Tasks are guided by rubrics and examples and may cover general knowledge, conversational replies, customer support responses, and educational content.

• Review AI-generated Kannada text for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural appropriateness
• Compare multiple AI outputs and assign correctness and quality ratings (RLHF / evaluation rating tasks)
• Detect mistranslations, register mismatches, ambiguity, logical inconsistencies, and hallucinated claims
• Fact-check claims when needed and flag unsafe, biased, or policy-risk language
• Create prompts and gold-standard Kannada answers and write high-quality rewrites that model strong usage

Requirements

You must meet the language and experience qualifications below. We preserve every requirement from the role description — do not apply unless you meet them.

• Native or near-native Kannada reading and writing ability
• Strong professional English proficiency to follow guidelines and write detailed feedback
• Deep knowledge of Kannada grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, tone, and register
• Ability to handle formal and informal registers, regional variation, and audience adaptation
• Strong attention to detail for spotting subtle meaning shifts and culturally awkward phrasing
• Background in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language work
• Prior experience with AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred

Helpful background

These qualifications are not strictly required but will make you more competitive for the role.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Kannada or English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field
• Experience producing clear written feedback in a remote, hourly contractor workflow
• Previous work across multiple language contexts, including translation quality review and copyediting

How to apply & what to expect

If you match the requirements, applying will involve submitting language samples and completing a short evaluation to confirm alignment with project rubrics. Work is assigned in batches with clear guidance and examples.

Tasks may include RLHF-style comparisons, evaluation ratings, and writing reference answers for text-generation tasks. You will be paid hourly at $20 USD and contracted by OpenTrain AI under the stated schedule and countries.
