The role

OpenTrain is hiring an experienced Japanese voice actor for flexible freelance assignments. You will record Japanese voice-overs for characters, stories, dubbing and localization-oriented content, delivering high-quality audio in required formats and revising performances based on direction.

Assignments can be fully remote (professional home studio) or in-studio depending on the project. This posting anticipates ongoing, part-time work of roughly 20+ hours per week, with potential contract extensions based on performance and project needs.

What you'll do

• Record Japanese voice-overs with appropriate emotion, personality, tone, and pacing.
• Interpret scripts and take creative direction during recording sessions.
• Revise performances based on feedback and deliver polished alternate takes.
• Provide clean, high-quality audio files on time and in the required format.
• Work remotely or in professional studio sessions as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous voice acting experience with a demo reel demonstrating variety in style and delivery.
• Strong vocal control, clear speech, and a wide emotional range in Japanese.
• Ability to follow direction, revise quickly, and meet deadlines.
• Access to high-quality recording equipment for remote sessions (or availability to attend studio sessions).
• Comfort with dubbing, ADR, localization, acting, or audio editing preferred but not strictly required.
• Language: fluency in Japanese (ja) is required.

Work arrangement & compensation

This is a flexible freelance contractor role offered as part-time work. OpenTrain supports fully remote contributors worldwide; some projects may require in-studio sessions.

Compensation details vary by assignment and are handled during the project contracting process. Successful contributors may be offered contract extensions or additional assignments based on performance.
