About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Japanese Audio Transcription QA Specialist to review multi-channel recordings and human-verified annotations used to evaluate multilingual, multi-speaker AI systems. You will serve as a final quality reviewer for audio fidelity, transcription accuracy, diarization, timestamps, metadata, and content safety. The work focuses on preserving natural conversational speech, including overlaps, interruptions, false starts, fillers, and other disfluencies, while maintaining rigorous quality standards.

What you will do
Evaluate multi-channel recordings for fidelity, channel isolation, background noise, clipping, and low gain. Review transcriptions against strict accuracy targets and verify unnormalized, verbatim speech. Check speaker identification, turn-level and word-level timestamps, overlapping dialogue, and JSON-formatted metadata. Confirm that demographic, contextual, and conversational tags are accurate. Audit sessions for personally identifying information, toxic material, and sensitive content. Assign pass/fail or agree/disagree outcomes and provide actionable feedback when annotation work needs correction.

Required skills
Native proficiency in Japanese and the ability to assess complex multi-speaker conversations. A highly developed ear for subtle audio defects, including channel bleed, background noise, and clipping. Strong attention to detail when checking verbatim transcription, diarization, timestamps, and metadata logic. Experience or training in linguistics, phonetics, language teaching, transcription, or a closely related discipline. Ability to preserve spontaneous speech rather than applying prescriptive grammar corrections.

Helpful background
Professional transcription, phonetics, linguistics, language teaching, or experience reviewing speech datasets can support success in this role. Familiarity with word-level timestamping, speaker diarization, annotation quality review, and structured JSON data is valuable.
