About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people who build careers in AI training and data labeling. We hire and contract contributors to do the human work that helps modern AI systems learn — from annotating text to reviewing model outputs. OpenTrain projects offer flexible, remote-friendly work that helps you gain experience on the cutting edge of AI.

About AI training work

AI training (data annotation, QA, and human evaluation) is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors prepare, review, and score examples that teach models how to write, translate, classify, and behave safely.

This kind of work is ideal for people who want remote, part-time, flexible roles where attention to detail and clear written feedback matter. Many projects require no prior technical degree, though some prefer or pay more for specialists.

The role

We are hiring Italy-based QA Annotators to review Italian-language data and AI outputs for quality, correctness, and alignment with project guidelines. This is project-based contract work with flexible hours (typically less than 20 hours per week).

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Expected time: Less than 20 hours/week (flexible)
  • Pay: $17 USD per hour
  • Work location: Must reside in Italy

What you'll do

You will audit completed labels and AI-generated text, apply evaluation rubrics, and record scores and reviewer notes. Tasks are text-focused and include classification, tagging, and corrective edits.

  • Review and score Italian language AI outputs for quality and guideline alignment
  • Audit and correct completed labels and flag errors
  • Classify text, tag entities, and annotate sentiment
  • Write concise, constructive reviewer notes in Italian
  • Suggest improvements to guidelines and workflows when you spot recurring issues
  • Work with potentially sensitive or safety-related content following project rules

Requirements

To be considered you must meet the language, location, experience, and technical requirements listed below. We preserve these requirements exactly as stated.

  • Current residence in Italy (required)
  • Native or C1 proficiency in Italian (required)
  • English proficiency of B2 or higher (required)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in data annotation, labeling, model evaluation, or QA
  • Ability to follow detailed written guidelines and apply consistent rubrics
  • Clear, constructive written feedback skills in Italian
  • Comfortable reviewing potentially sensitive or safety-related content
  • Reliable computer and stable internet connection for web-based tools
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (not required)

Who should apply

This role is a good fit for bilingual Italian speakers with hands-on annotation or QA experience who want flexible, part-time contract work. Ideal applicants are organized, pay close attention to detail, and can explain corrections clearly in writing.

  • Experienced annotators, QA reviewers, or evaluators with Italian-language expertise
  • People seeking flexible hours and steady, project-based assignments
  • Contributors who can handle sensitive content responsibly and follow strict guidelines

How it works / Next steps

OpenTrain hires contributors as contractors on a project basis. Selected applicants typically complete a short onboarding and task-specific instructions before starting. Work is completed through web-based annotation and review tools; you will log hours and submit ratings and notes as required.

  • Application: submit your profile and experience details through OpenTrain
  • Onboarding: brief task-specific training and guideline review (project-dependent)
  • Payment: hourly at $17 USD/hour for time worked on the project
  • Schedule: choose shifts and tasks to stay under the project’s weekly hour limits (typically <20 hrs/week)
