About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Subject-matter experts create examples, evaluate model outputs, and provide feedback so AI systems can perform more reliably in real-world situations.

This project applies practical IT support knowledge to scenario-based training data, helping models learn troubleshooting, incident documentation, and clear communication with non-technical users.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an IT Support AI Training Expert to contribute hands-on expertise to the training of next-generation AI systems. You will diagnose hardware, software, and networking issues, document incidents, and create realistic examples based on real-world troubleshooting and user-support practices.

This is a remote, part-time contractor engagement requiring 10–15+ hours per week. The work is flexible and designed for independent contributors who can collaborate asynchronously and provide high-quality written and verbal feedback.

  • Contractor, part-time engagement
  • Remote and available worldwide
  • Expected commitment: 10–15+ hours per week
  • Rate: $30–$55 USD per hour
  • Working language: English

What You'll Do

You will contribute technical knowledge and structured feedback that helps AI systems learn how effective IT support professionals investigate, explain, and resolve incidents.

  • Diagnose and resolve common hardware and software issues across Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
  • Develop and assess real-world troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Document incident details, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions clearly and precisely in ITSM or similar ticketing systems.
  • Use TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and related networking knowledge to resolve connectivity and configuration incidents.
  • Provide clear, empathetic, step-by-step technical guidance for non-technical users.
  • Create detailed scenario-based examples and process documentation reflecting IT support best practices.
  • Document all input and feedback for AI training and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate asynchronously in a remote engagement while delivering high-quality written and verbal feedback.

Required Qualifications

This project is listed at an entry level, but it requires substantial hands-on IT support experience. Applicants should be able to demonstrate practical expertise in diverse operating system and network environments.

  • At least 3 years of Tier 2/3 IT support experience.
  • Deep familiarity with hardware, software, and networking troubleshooting, including root cause analysis.
  • Experience documenting technical incidents and resolutions using ITSM or similar ticketing platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for supporting non-technical end users.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach to independent remote project work.

Helpful Background

The following experience can strengthen your application, though it is not listed as required:

  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • CompTIA Network+ certification
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Experience contributing to technical process documentation or knowledge bases

Why Contribute to AI Training
