The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a senior finance domain expert specializing in investment banking and M&A financial evaluation. You will work with research and program management teams to improve how frontier AI models reason about professional financial work.
This is a full-time, hybrid contractor engagement based in the Bay Area, California. The default commitment is 40 hours per week for an initial six-month engagement, with compensation of $100 to $150 per hour.

What You’ll Do
You will apply deep finance expertise to the design and evaluation of AI training data. The work requires careful judgment, strong written communication, and the ability to make expert standards explicit and teachable.
Review the quality of finance knowledge-work tasks and model outputs.
Identify missing behaviors, weak reasoning, and flawed assumptions.
Write high-quality instruction specifications for financial problems.
Produce golden solutions that define what a correct answer looks like.
Design challenging finance tasks and evaluation benchmarks.
Measure model improvement against rigorous financial standards.
Calibrate standards with research teams and specialists in adjacent fields.
Translate tacit financial judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.
Required Qualifications
This role is intended for an experienced finance professional with substantial expertise in a recognized financial institution or related organization. Your background should include senior individual-contributor or leadership-level responsibility and hands-on use of large language models in professional work.
At least 5 years of professional finance experience.
Experience at a recognized institution such as an investment bank, asset manager, private equity or credit fund, Big Four firm, or financial regulator.
Specialization in at least one core finance discipline, including corporate finance and FP&A, investment banking and M&A, asset or wealth management, private equity or private credit, quantitative finance and risk management, treasury, or accounting and audit.
Senior individual-contributor or leadership experience, such as Vice President, Director, Principal, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Controller, or CFO.
Hands-on experience using large language models in professional work.
Excellent written communication skills.
Ability to provide precise, well-structured feedback.
Reliable availability for 40 hours per week during the initial engagement.
Current residence in the Bay Area, California, with the ability to work on-site multiple days each week.
Relocation to the Bay Area at your own cost is required if you do not already live there.
Preferred Background
An advanced academic degree or recognized professional credential is strongly preferred for this specialized finance evaluation work.
MBA, MS, or PhD in finance, economics, accounting, or a quantitative field
CFA, CPA, FRM, or actuarial designation
