The Industrial Design CAD Expert Role

OpenTrain is seeking expert contributors with a background in mechanical engineering, aerospace, or industrial design. You will work with native FreeCAD assemblies and related technical materials, using your understanding of CAD and multi-part design to create high-quality training content.

The project is expected to run for 3 to 6 months. This is a contractor opportunity with pay ranging from $40 to $80 USD per hour, with an expected rate of $60 USD per hour.

What You'll Do

You will review native FreeCAD assemblies and analyze the design information they contain. For each assembly, you will develop several distinct questions and provide exact answers that accurately reflect the underlying CAD data and technical documentation.

Your submissions must support AI training by making complex design information clear, objective, precise, and unambiguous. You will also provide process feedback to project coordinators and manage your delivery independently.

  • Review native FreeCAD assemblies, CAD files, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Identify design intent, functions, structure, and relationships between components.
  • Create several unique questions for each assembly.
  • Write exact answers grounded in the assembly and supporting materials.
  • Produce clear, objective, precise, and unambiguous content.
  • Share process feedback with project coordinators.
  • Manage your own delivery independently.

Requirements

This is an expert-level opportunity for contributors who can interpret complex multi-part assemblies and communicate technical information with exceptional accuracy. You should be comfortable working independently and discussing your relevant experience in industrial design CAD work.
