OpenTrain is the leading platform for people who build careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect contributors with ongoing language and annotation projects, help contractors consolidate work and track performance, and hire and manage projects directly through OpenTrain AI.
Why AI training work matters
AI systems learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people — annotating, rating, and refining model outputs so AI behaves reliably and respectfully. This is highly flexible, often remote work that lets you influence how state-of-the-art models handle language and culture.
Work is 100% remote and often flexible for part-time schedules.
Contributors directly shape how models understand and generate Icelandic.
The role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting an Icelandic Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Icelandic-language projects. You will review AI-generated Icelandic content and trainer QA work, evaluate output against rubrics and style guides, and provide precise written feedback to help contributors meet standards.
What you'll do day-to-day
Review Icelandic model outputs and trainer QA decisions for accuracy, fluency, grammar, tone, format, and rubric adherence.
Evaluate content against project-specific rubrics and language guidelines; assign evaluation ratings and RLHF feedback where required.
Write clear, actionable feedback on grammar, spelling, register, terminology, and cultural appropriateness.
Maintain and update style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, and honeypots.
Communicate workflow updates and expectations to trainers and QAs; support onboarding calls and training sessions.
Identify recurring quality issues and propose scalable QA workflow improvements.
Requirements
You must be located in Iceland and able to work as a remote contractor. This is a mid-to-senior level role that requires proven Icelandic language expertise and experience reviewing or managing language quality work.
Native or near-native Icelandic reading and writing ability.
Strong English communication skills for guidelines, written feedback, and coordination.
3+ years of professional experience in Icelandic writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related review work.
Deep knowledge of Icelandic grammar, declensions, punctuation, register, and cultural nuances.
Ability to spot mistranslation, unnatural phrasing, calques, hallucinated claims, and terminology errors.
Comfort using remote collaboration tools (Discord, Google Sheets, Docs), trackers and dashboards.
Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
Helpful background
Degree in Icelandic, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, or related fields.
Prior experience with AI training, rubric-based LLM evaluation, or prompt/response review is a plus.
