The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking an Icelandic Language QA Lead to oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Icelandic AI training projects. You will review AI-generated Icelandic content and trainer QA work, assess results against project guidelines, and provide precise written feedback.
The role includes checking accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, formatting, and rubric adherence. You will also identify recurring issues, communicate updates, support onboarding, maintain documentation, and help keep contributor activity on track.

What You'll Do
You will combine hands-on Icelandic review with quality leadership. Your feedback should be clear, specific, and actionable for trainers and QAs working against detailed language standards.
Review Icelandic AI training outputs and trainer QA work for quality and consistency.
Evaluate content against project-specific rubrics and language guidelines.
Provide written feedback on grammar, spelling, tone, terminology, and cultural fit.
Communicate workflow updates and expectations to trainers and QAs.
Maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
Support contributor onboarding and training calls.
Identify recurring gaps and help improve scalable Icelandic QA workflows.
Help keep contributor activity aligned with project expectations.
Required Qualifications
This role requires strong Icelandic language expertise, careful attention to detail, and the ability to explain quality decisions in English. Professional experience may come from writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related review work.
Native or near-native Icelandic proficiency with strong reading, writing, and editing ability.
Strong English communication skills for guidelines, feedback, and team coordination.
At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant Icelandic language or review field.
Strong knowledge of Icelandic grammar, declensions, punctuation, register, and cultural context.
Ability to evaluate work against detailed rubrics and style guides.
Experience reviewing translation, localization, or AI training outputs.
Comfort supporting remote trainer or QA workflows.
Familiarity with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
Helpful Background
Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred. Experience with AI training, large language models, prompt or response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA will also be valuable.
Degree in Icelandic, linguistics, translation, communications, journalism, English, education, quality assurance, or a related field
Background in Icelandic writing, editing, localization, or language quality assurance
Experience coordinating distributed contributors or maintaining review documentation
Interest in how large language models learn language and follow instructions
