About AI training in healthcare

AI training (data labeling / annotation) is the human side of model development: clinicians and other experts review examples, correct outputs, and teach models to reason reliably about medical topics. This work is remote, flexible, and directly influences how healthcare-focused AI systems answer questions and provide guidance.

Healthcare-focused annotation needs domain experts to verify accuracy, point to relevant evidence, and explain real-world clinical workflows so models learn clinically sensible reasoning.

The role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a licensed medical doctor to review written healthcare content and AI-generated responses for clinical accuracy and quality. This is a flexible, remote contract engagement with an approximate commitment of 10 hours per week.

You will work with a small group of subject-matter experts to provide clear, evidence-informed feedback, identify useful reference material, and share practical insight into clinical workflows and standards that help AI systems reason more reliably about healthcare topics.

What you'll do

  • Review healthcare writing and AI-generated answers for clinical accuracy and quality.
  • Answer domain-specific medical questions with clear, well-reasoned feedback.
  • Identify relevant reference material from medical literature and clinical guidelines.
  • Share practical insight into real clinical workflows, tools, and standards.
  • Collaborate with a small group of other subject matter experts to align feedback.

Requirements

  • Licensed medical doctor (MD or equivalent) with clinical practice experience.
  • At least 2 years of professional clinical experience.
  • Comfort using and citing medical literature and clinical guidelines (for example, PubMed, UpToDate).
  • Ability to review medical content for accuracy and provide clear, evidence-based reasoning.
  • Professional working English and reliable availability for about 10 hours per week.
  • Based in the United States (U.S. residency required).
  • Comfort using everyday AI tools such as ChatGPT; prior teaching/supervising or medical education experience is a plus.

Compensation & logistics

This is a contract, part-time engagement. Pay is hourly at $90–$100 USD per hour. The role is remote and requires roughly 10 hours of availability each week.

Work focuses on text review and evaluation tasks (label types include evaluation/rating and question-answering). OpenTrain AI hires and manages the engagement directly.

Who should apply

Apply if you are a practicing or recently practicing MD who wants flexible, part-time work that leverages clinical judgment to improve AI systems. This role is well suited to clinicians who enjoy teaching, writing clear explanations, and working with evidence-based resources.

You do not need prior annotation experience, but familiarity with clinical literature and clear written reasoning is essential.
