Why AI training matters

AI training is the human work behind modern machine learning: people prepare, review, and evaluate examples that teach models how to behave. This job focuses on documenting healthcare administrative workflows so models learn accurate, real-world back-office processes.

This type of work is often remote and flexible, and it puts you on the cutting edge of how healthcare-focused AI tools are built and evaluated.

The role

As a Healthcare Administrative Workflow Specialist you will document and evaluate the administrative processes that keep healthcare organizations running. Your insights will be used to train and evaluate AI systems that model payer interactions, claims handling, and practice administration.

This is a part-time contract role for experienced US-based healthcare back-office professionals working 20+ hours per week.

What you'll do

  • Review and describe workflows across patient access, eligibility, prior authorizations, claims follow-up, remittance posting, and provider operations.
  • Document steps and decision points in payer portals, EHRs or practice-management systems, and clearinghouses.
  • Capture how claims progress from submission through denials, appeals, and resolution.
  • Clarify medical records administration, compliance touchpoints, and daily practice administration processes.
  • Evaluate and rate document-based examples (this project uses document review and evaluation ratings).

Requirements

To qualify you must have demonstrable, hands-on experience in healthcare administration and be currently working in a back-office role in the United States.

  • 3+ years of daily, hands-on healthcare administrative or revenue cycle experience.
  • Current work in a healthcare administration or back-office role (US-based eligibility required).
  • Direct experience with payer portals, EHR or practice-management systems, and clearinghouses.
  • Experience working claims workflows including submission, denials, appeals, and payment posting.

Helpful background

  • Practice administrator or medical office manager experience.
  • Revenue cycle management, medical billing, or claims resolution experience.
  • Prior authorization, credentialing, or provider enrollment experience.
  • Health information management or medical records administration experience.

Compensation & schedule

This is a contract, part-time role for US-based contributors. Expected commitment is 20+ hours per week.

Pay is hourly at $40–$50 USD per hour; exact rate depends on experience and assignment.

  • Payment type: Hourly (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Hourly rate range: $40 to $50 USD.
  • Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.

How it works & how to apply

You will work with document-based examples and provide structured evaluations and ratings that describe real administrative workflows. No specific labeling software is required in the job description; training and project instructions will be provided when you begin.

To apply, create a free OpenTrain account, complete your profile noting your healthcare back-office experience, and submit your application. OpenTrain will contact qualified applicants with next steps and project details.
