About AI Training Work
AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Experts review model outputs, test workflows, create structured examples, and provide domain-specific feedback so AI tools become more accurate, useful, and reliable.
This role brings professional coaching principles into that process. Your evaluations will help fitness-focused AI applications reflect evidence-based exercise science, sound programming practices, and appropriate physiological safeguards.
Evaluate AI-generated content and workflows
Translate professional knowledge into clear rules and validation logic
Help improve the reliability of specialized AI applications
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a Health and Fitness AI Evaluation Expert to help ground large language models and fitness-focused AI applications in evidence-based exercise science. You will combine hands-on strength and conditioning knowledge with structured review of formulas, templates, trackers, and AI-generated outputs.
The work requires strong practical judgment, concise professional writing, and the ability to turn coaching rules and exercise protocols into deterministic spreadsheet formulas and validation structures.

What You'll Do
You will define the training rules and physiological guardrails that fitness-focused AI tools should follow. You will also validate structured training data and review whether generated tools and outputs align with professional coaching, strength and conditioning, and sports science standards.
Define training goals, experience parameters, weekly frequency, and equipment considerations
Set physiological guardrails for fitness-focused AI tools
Co-design context workflows for workout logs, body-metric histories, and multi-phase training programs
Verify progression formulas, estimated 1RM calculations, and training-volume rollups
Validate exercise lists and exercise-specific protocols
Review AI-generated tools and outputs against professional coaching and sports science standards
Convert training rules into clear spreadsheet formulas and validation structures
Required Qualifications
You should have at least four years of experience in strength and conditioning, personal training, or health and fitness coaching. The structured project listing identifies the role as entry level, but the detailed requirements call for substantial practical experience in the subject area.
You must be able to apply physiological judgment to progression limits, deload periods, volume controls, and overtraining risks. Experience with AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, or another analytical role is helpful but not required.
Four or more years of strength and conditioning, personal training, or health and fitness coaching experience
Practical knowledge of periodization and progressive overload
Experience with workout logging, volume and intensity management, and estimated 1RM calculations
Ability to set progression caps, deload schedules, volume limits, and other physiological guardrails
Ability to express exercise protocols as deterministic spreadsheet formulas and validation structures
Ability to evaluate AI-generated fitness tools against professional coaching and sports science standards
Strong, concise professional writing
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
Reliable desktop or laptop with stable high-speed internet
Schedule and Engagement
This is a remote contractor engagement lasting up to 10 weeks. The expected commitment is 40 hours per week, with 8 hours of overlap with Pacific Time. Part-time engagement may be accommodated, and the project requires weekend on-call availability.
