The role

We are seeking native Haitian Creole speakers to join a part-time contractor project focused on audio annotation. You will listen to short recordings, transcribe spoken content in Haitian Creole, label speech segments, and follow clear quality guidelines. No prior annotation experience is required; training is provided.

• Employment type: Contractor, part-time.
• Time commitment: 20+ hours per week, typically 3–5 hours per day.
• Work location: Remote — contributors worldwide are welcome.

What you'll do

Daily tasks center on careful listening and consistent labeling. You will use OpenTrain's internal annotation tooling and simple spreadsheets for task tracking. Accuracy and following guideline rules are more important than speed — quality matters.

• Transcribe audio recordings into Haitian Creole.
• Label and segment speech (start/end times, speaker turns, or speech/non-speech as instructed).
• Apply provided guidelines to ensure consistent, high-quality data.
• Record task status and progress in Google Sheets or the provided tracker.

Requirements

We only require what you need to do the job well: native fluency, basic computer skills, and reliability. OpenTrain provides all project-specific training and examples.

• Native fluency in Haitian Creole (speaking and understanding).
• No prior annotation experience required; training will be provided.
• Ability to work consistently 3–5 hours per day totaling 20+ hours weekly.
• Basic familiarity with Google Sheets for task management.
• Access to a reliable internet connection and a device for listening and typing.

Project details & compensation

This is a fixed-price contractor project managed by OpenTrain. You will perform audio transcription and segmentation using our internal proprietary tooling. Follow all guidelines and quality checks during the project.

• Pay: Fixed price of USD 270 for the project.
• Role level: Entry level — training included.

How it works and how to apply

Apply through OpenTrain to create a contributor profile and register for this project. You will complete onboarding and training, then begin tasks via the internal tooling and spreadsheet trackers. Work schedules are flexible but you must meet the weekly hour expectation.
