The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a German Music Audio AI Evaluation Expert to evaluate and annotate generative music model outputs. You will listen to AI-generated music samples, compare versions, and make structured ratings and classifications that improve model quality.

• Work with audio samples (music and vocals) and structured taxonomies to record genre/sub-genre, song structure, vocal and instrumental characteristics, and production quality.
• Label types: evaluation ratings and classification of musical attributes; data type: audio.

What you'll do

• Rate AI-generated music head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality using audio-engineering terminology.
• Evaluate lyrics and voice generation for fluency, rhyme/flow, and lyrical content appropriateness.
• Annotate songs with genre/sub-genre, sections (intro/verse/chorus/bridge), instrumentation, vocal characteristics, and other structured attributes.
• Score the quality of musical training data and flag samples that need improvement or removal.
• Provide detailed annotations that help refine both vocal synthesis and musical arrangement in generative models.

Requirements

This role requires both musical expertise and language fluency. The list below contains all required qualifications as provided.

• Native or near-native proficiency in German and English; must be able to understand directions in English.
• 3+ years of experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer.
• College degree in music including performance, theory, and lyrics.
• Past experience writing lyrical music in German.
• Able to rate AI-generated music using audio-engineering terminology and describe mix/production quality clearly.
• Experience level listed as Entry level (project is open to contributors), but the role expects the professional music and production background above.

Project details & compensation

This is a remote, part-time contractor role. All substantive project facts are listed below.

• Duration: Up to 6 months.
• Time commitment: 20+ hours per week.
• Work arrangement: Remote, contractor, part-time.
• Pay: USD $32.48–$58.46 per hour.
• Languages required: German and English.
• Labeling tasks: evaluation ratings and classification of audio/music samples.
