  • Exceptional listening skills for difficult or noisy audio
  • Strong written German, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to follow style guides and formatting rules consistently
  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach to repetitive tasks
  • Self-motivation and reliability when working without direct supervision
  • Comfort using web-based tools and platforms

Helpful Additional Experience

The following background is welcome but not required. Experience with spoken-language work or transcription tools may help you handle varied recordings and specialized conventions.

  • Professional transcription, court reporting, or stenography experience
  • Subtitling, closed-captioning, or media post-production experience
  • Linguistics training or academic study of the German language
  • Experience with annotation platforms or data-labeling workflows
  • Familiarity with transcription software or audio editing tools
  • Awareness of Austrian German idioms, colloquialisms, and regional dialect patterns
