OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. Creating an OpenTrain account is free and is how you manage work, applications, and your profile.

Why AI Training Work Matters

AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare, review, and refine the examples that models learn from. This work is remote-friendly, flexible, and a direct way to shape how next-generation systems behave.

Many contributors choose this work for its flexibility, accessibility to entry-level contributors, and the chance to work across domains and formats while learning valuable skills for the broader AI industry.

The Role — What a Generalist Contributor Does

You will support written content, documentation, feedback, and project coordination to help train generative AI systems. Tasks span creating and improving materials, giving constructive feedback, and keeping project information organized across collaboration tools.

This is a remote, part-time contractor role requiring 20+ hours per week. Work is paid hourly at a range of $25–$50 USD per hour, depending on assignment and experience.

What You'll Do

  • Create and deliver clear written content and documentation grounded in practical domain knowledge.
  • Review, edit, and enhance project materials for clarity, accuracy, and usability.
  • Provide actionable feedback in discussions and collaboration channels to improve data quality and processes.
  • Coordinate project activities, track milestones, and help keep work organized across tools.
  • Support knowledge sharing, brainstorming, and process-improvement initiatives to raise overall project quality.

Requirements

You must be comfortable working independently in a remote environment, be fluent in English, and be available for at least 20 hours per week.

OpenTrain welcomes diverse educational and professional backgrounds; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication with attention to clarity and detail.
  • Practical domain knowledge or versatile generalist experience applicable across topics.
  • Experience organizing and synthesizing information across multiple platforms.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Calendly, Notion, Confluence, or WhatsApp Business.
  • Comfort reviewing materials and giving constructive, actionable feedback.

Who Should Apply

This role suits resourceful generalists who can move between domains, produce high-quality written inputs, and keep collaborative projects running smoothly.

Entry-level contributors are welcome if you have strong communication skills, experience with the listed tools, and a track record of organizing or documenting work.

How It Works

Assignments will involve text-based tasks (TEXT data type) such as text generation and evaluation rating. You will be contracted as a part-time contractor and paid per hour within the stated range.

OpenTrain facilitates contracting, task assignments, and payments. Apply through your OpenTrain account and keep your profile up to date to be considered for projects that match your skills and availability.

  • Data types: TEXT. Typical label types: TEXT_GENERATION and EVALUATION_RATING.
