The Role

OpenTrain is hiring remote contractor attorneys with funds experience to evaluate and improve AI systems for contract review. You will run redlining exercises and simulated negotiations, assess model responses to contract scenarios, and help design objective grading criteria for legal tasks.

• Time commitment: 20+ hours per week
• Location: Remote; worldwide applicants accepted (English required)
• Pay: $90–$130 per hour (up to $130/hr)

What You'll Do

• Perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises using real-world fund documentation.
• Review and assess AI-generated answers to contract scenarios, providing detailed expert feedback.
• Create evaluation frameworks, rubrics, and objective grading criteria for contract tasks.
• Collaborate with product and research teams to refine guidelines, edge cases, and best practices for AI-driven contract review.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in the funds department of a corporate law firm.
• Familiarity with common fund and transaction documents, including LPAs, subscription agreements, and side letters.
• Experience redlining and negotiating tech-related contracts and spotting contract risk.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Comfort working with cross-disciplinary teams and an interest in law plus technology.

Helpful Background

Prior exposure to AI, legal tech, or participation in training initiatives is a plus but not required. The project focuses on teaching models how to interpret nuanced contractual language and surface legal risk reliably.
