About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for remote AI training and data-labeling work. OpenTrain helps people start and grow careers teaching AI through flexible projects, profile building, and straightforward applications.

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Contributors review, annotate, transcribe, and evaluate examples so AI systems can better understand language and produce reliable results.

  • Work remotely with a computer and an internet connection
  • Build practical experience in a fast-growing technology field
  • Choose flexible task-based work that can fit around other commitments

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a French Audio Transcript Editor to support AI training projects. You will listen to French recordings and refine existing transcripts, ensuring accurate wording, speaker attribution, timestamps, and formatting.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role for individuals located in Quebec, Canada. Assignments are completed independently on a flexible schedule, with a time requirement of 20 or more hours per week.

  • Location: Quebec, Canada
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote
  • Employment type: Contractor and part-time
  • Pay: $10 to $35 USD per hour
  • Experience level: Entry level

What You’ll Do

You will polish transcripts using annotation platforms and transcript editing tools while applying project standards consistently. When audio is unclear or speakers overlap, you will document the issue according to the applicable guidelines.

  • Listen to French audio recordings and compare them with existing transcripts
  • Correct spelling, word choice, punctuation, and speaker-attribution errors
  • Check word-level accuracy and precise timing alignment throughout each transcript
  • Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently
  • Flag unclear or ambiguous audio segments and document them correctly
  • Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule

Requirements

You should be a native or near-native French speaker with an excellent ear for spoken French, including Québécois and Canadian varieties. Strong listening comprehension and careful attention to small details are essential, especially when recordings have challenging audio quality or overlapping speakers.

No prior AI or technology experience is required. Training is provided, but you must be comfortable following detailed instructions and working reliably without direct supervision.

  • Native or near-native French ability across accents and registers
  • Excellent listening comprehension and word-level accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfort with exact timing, style guides, and formatting rules
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Availability for 20 or more hours per week

Helpful Background

Prior experience is welcome but not required. Background in transcript production, captioning, language work, or annotation can help you succeed in this role.

  • Transcription, court reporting, or stenography
  • Subtitle editing or closed-captioning
  • Media localization
  • Linguistics, phonetics, or language sciences
  • Annotation platforms, data-labeling tools, or transcript software
  • Familiarity with Québécois French and other regional accents
