The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a French AI Audiobook QA Reviewer to evaluate text-to-speech audiobooks in French. You will listen as an engaged audiobook audience member while applying a careful analytical standard to naturalness, accuracy, pronunciation, phrasing, intonation, audio quality, and overall enjoyment.

This is an entry-level contractor role for someone with native or near-native French used in France, regular audiobook listening experience, and strong attention to detail. Working English is required for written reporting and team communication.

What You'll Do

You will review many hours of AI-narrated audiobook content and document issues consistently. The work requires patient listening, accurate categorization, and the ability to distinguish sections that preserve the audiobook experience from sections that disrupt it.

• Listen to AI-narrated audiobooks in French
• Identify skipped, added, or mispronounced words
• Check number readings and abbreviation pronunciation
• Flag unnatural phrasing and awkward intonation
• Detect audio artifacts and other quality issues
• Categorize each issue accurately
• Mark the exact span where an issue occurs using review tooling
• Report listener satisfaction and overall enjoyment

Requirements

You should be comfortable making nuanced judgments about French narration and communicating those judgments clearly in English. Previous experience in annotation, transcription, proofreading, linguistics, audio quality review, or another detail-oriented discipline is useful but not required.

• Native or near-native fluency in French as used in France
• Regular audiobook listening experience
• Ability to evaluate pronunciation, number reading, abbreviations, phrasing, and intonation
• Ability to identify audio-quality problems in synthesized speech
• Working English for clear written reporting and team communication
• Patience and consistent attention to detail across extended audio reviews
• Reliable part-time availability of 20+ hours per week

Helpful Background

Prior experience with AI training data, model evaluation, or audio quality-assurance annotation can help you succeed. A background in language, editing, voice, or audio production is also relevant, though the role is designed for entry-level applicants with the required listening and language skills.
