The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Financial Model Evaluation Expert to assess how AI systems reason about valuation, financial modeling, capital markets, and real-world investment situations. You will combine professional finance experience with careful written analysis to evaluate model-generated outputs and provide feedback that can improve financial reasoning and model behavior.

This is an entry-level opportunity in the project classification, but applicants must have at least one year of qualifying professional experience. The contractor role requires a commitment of 20 or more hours per week and pays $245 to $280 USD per hour.

What You'll Do

You will evaluate whether AI-generated financial analysis is accurate, well-reasoned, and grounded in realistic investment situations. Your work will include creating difficult finance tasks, writing strong reference answers, and clearly explaining analytical weaknesses.

• Review AI-generated responses involving valuation, financial modeling, markets, and investment analysis.
• Develop challenging finance prompts grounded in real deal experience.

• Identify factual errors, weak analytical reasoning, unsupported conclusions, and unrealistic assumptions.
• Assess whether model outputs reflect sound investment judgment and relevant real-world scenarios.

Requirements

Applicants should be able to apply practical transaction and investment experience to detailed AI evaluation work. Strong written English is essential because the role involves producing prompts, reference answers, and domain feedback.

• At least one year of professional experience at a recognized financial firm or legitimate startup.
• Professional background in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, or growth equity.
• Experience with valuation, financial modeling, markets, and investment analysis.
• Ability to evaluate financial modeling and valuation outputs for analytical accuracy.
• Judgment to identify weak reasoning, unsupported conclusions, and unrealistic assumptions.
• Experience applying real deal or investment analysis to practical financial scenarios.
• Strong written communication in English.
• An undergraduate degree from a top-ranked university.
• Some qualifying finance experience within the past seven years.
• Based in an English-speaking country.
