About AI Training and Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review model responses, create high-quality examples, and define what accurate, well-reasoned work looks like so that AI systems can improve.

Finance specialists are especially important for evaluating answers that may sound convincing but contain flawed assumptions, incomplete reasoning, or technical errors. Your judgment will help make financial AI outputs more reliable and useful.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a senior Finance AI Training Expert to work with research and program management teams on improving how frontier AI models reason about real financial work. You will translate experienced financial judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.

This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area, California. The engagement is described as full-time at 40 hours per week for an initial six-month term, with contractor and part-time classifications also provided in the role details.

  • Write high-quality instruction specifications for financial work.
  • Produce golden solutions to financial problems.
  • Design challenging finance tasks and evaluation sets that reflect real-world practice.
  • Work with research teams and adjacent-field specialists to maintain consistent standards.

  • 5+ years of substantive, dedicated professional finance experience.
  • Experience at an investment bank, asset manager, private equity firm, Big Four firm, corporate finance function, or financial regulator.
  • Specialization in corporate finance and FP&A, investment banking and M&A, asset or wealth management, private equity or private credit, quantitative finance and risk management, treasury, or accounting and audit.
