About AI training and this work

AI training (also called data labeling, annotation, or human feedback) is the human side of building modern language models. People prepare, evaluate, and correct examples that teach AI systems how to write, translate, and behave.

This role focuses on Estonian-language quality: grammar, spelling, fluency, tone, cultural appropriateness, formatting, and translation fidelity. You will directly shape how Estonian outputs from language models are judged and improved.

The role — what you'll do

You will lead quality monitoring and rubric-based review for Estonian AI training tasks, provide clear written feedback to trainers and QAs, and help maintain consistent quality across distributed contributors.

• Review Estonian AI-generated content and trainer or QA submissions against project guidelines and rubrics.
• Provide precise, written feedback identifying mistranslation, unnatural phrasing, ambiguity, and terminology issues.
• Spot recurring quality issues, escalate critical or repeated problems, and propose corrective actions.
• Support onboarding: training calls, FAQs, style guides, honeypots, trackers, and documentation.
• Coordinate guideline updates and workflow changes with remote teams via Discord and project tools.
• Help manage inactive contributors and keep quality workflows moving to meet project targets.

Requirements — essential

To succeed you must combine native Estonian language judgment with clear English communication and experience applying detailed rubrics to content.

• Native or near-native Estonian proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong English communication for feedback, documentation, and team coordination.
• Experience in Estonian writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review work.
• Strong understanding of Estonian grammar, case endings, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, and cultural context.
• Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and identify mistranslation, unnatural phrasing, ambiguity, and terminology issues.
• Comfort working remotely with tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.

Nice-to-have experience

These qualifications are not required but will help you move faster in the role and expand into leadership across projects.

• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
• Experience with AI training, large language models, prompt or response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA.
• Background maintaining style guides, onboarding materials, honeypots, and QA documentation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Estonian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.

Work scope, schedule, and pay

This is a remote contractor, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week. Work centers on Estonian-language quality across multiple AI training projects.

OpenTrain hires contractors for this role; you will coordinate with distributed trainers and QAs using Discord and standard project tools.

How the work is organized

Work is organized around rubric-based evaluations and RLHF-style rating tasks. You will use project trackers and dashboards to review items, leave written feedback, and update documentation.

Expect frequent coordination with trainers and QAs, contribution management, and occasional onboarding or training sessions. Clear, actionable feedback in English is essential.
