The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting an Environmental Legal Work Product Reviewer for a blinded human-preference study supporting legal AI training. You will assess AI-generated legal work products against realistic environmental legal matters, compare alternative deliverables, and explain your preferences using professional legal judgment.

The work focuses on NEPA legal sufficiency review of draft environmental impact statements and CERCLA contribution claim defense and allocation. The engagement is remote and structured as part-time contract work.

• Contract engagement with approximately 13 hours across the engagement.
• Default commitment of 13 hours per week.
• Pay rate of $100 to $120 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will read a synthetic legal matter and its underlying documents, then review six blinded AI-generated deliverables labeled A through F. You will make five head-to-head comparisons against a common comparator output and document your reasoning for each preference.

Your evaluations must consider the overall quality and professional usefulness of each work product. Careful, specific explanations are central to the study.

• Review synthetic environmental legal matters and supporting documents.

• Complete five head-to-head comparisons with a common comparator output.
• Assess correctness, completeness, judgment, and usefulness.
• Write a short, specific rationale for every preference.

Requirements

You must be a qualified lawyer with substantive environmental law practice experience. Relevant experience includes NEPA legal sufficiency review of draft environmental impact statements and CERCLA contribution claim defense and allocation.

You must also be able to work independently from written instructions, provide precise comparative reasoning in English, manage deadlines reliably, and handle confidential project materials carefully. External AI tools must not be used on project materials.
