The role — DNA Nanotechnology Expert
OpenTrain is hiring DNA nanotechnology experts to author and review challenging structural DNA problems and to evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness and rigor. You will create problems in DNA origami, nucleic-acid nanostructures, strand-displacement systems, and sequence or structure design, and you will provide thorough written justification for assessments.
This is a contractor, part-time role (20+ hours/week) paid per hour at $75 USD. Work may be done from anywhere; English is required for task instructions and written rationale.
Label types: TEXT_GENERATION and EVALUATION_RATING (authoring prompts/problems and rating model outputs).
Your day-to-day tasks focus on designing rigorous, expert-level problems and assessing AI answers with precise scientific judgment and clear written feedback.
Design expert-level problems covering DNA origami, nucleic-acid nanostructures, strand-displacement systems, and sequence or structure design.
Review peer-authored problems for clarity, difficulty, and ground-truth correctness.
Evaluate AI-generated solutions and compare model outputs with detailed written justification.
Provide meticulous scientific reasoning and document any errors, pitfalls, or ambiguity in model responses.
Requirements
You must have advanced research experience and hands-on familiarity with structural nucleic-acid design tools and methods. Strong scientific writing and attention to detail are essential.
PhD or equivalent research experience in chemistry, bioengineering, biophysics, or a related field focused on DNA or nucleic-acid nanotechnology.
Hands-on experience with DNA origami, structural nucleic-acid design, or molecular self-assembly.
Familiarity with caDNAno, oxDNA, or NUPACK.
Proven ability to judge correctness and rigor in scientific problem solving; strong technical writing and detailed rationale.
Availability for 20+ hours per week and fluency in English.
