The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Croatian Language AI Evaluation Expert to review AI-generated Croatian content, create reference answers, and provide precise feedback that improves language quality and model reliability. You will assess grammar, fluency, spelling, meaning, reasoning, tone, register, terminology, and cultural appropriateness across Croatian-language AI training tasks.

This is a remote contract role for freelancers located in Croatia. The role is part-time and requires 20 or more hours per week, with an advertised rate of up to $25 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will evaluate Croatian AI responses across general knowledge, customer support, education, conversational writing, translation, and localization tasks. Your reviews will help identify where model outputs are accurate, natural, useful, and culturally appropriate, as well as where they need improvement.

• Review responses for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural fit, and prompt adherence
• Identify mistranslations, ambiguity, unnatural phrasing, terminology problems, and logical inconsistencies
• Flag factual hallucinations, bias, unsafe content, and misleading content
• Create Croatian prompts, gold-standard answers, rewrites, and model responses
• Rate and compare multiple responses for correctness, meaning preservation, register consistency, terminology quality, safety, and overall quality
• Explain clearly why language or reasoning needs improvement

Required Skills

You should have native or near-native Croatian proficiency and strong professional English proficiency at C1 or above. The work requires detailed written feedback in English while applying advanced Croatian language knowledge to every evaluation.

• Native or near-native Croatian reading and writing skills
• Advanced knowledge of Croatian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, cases, declension, conjugation, aspect, word order, tone, and style
• Ability to work across formal, neutral, conversational, professional, educational, and public-facing registers
• Strong attention to subtle meaning shifts, agreement errors, language interference, and culturally mismatched wording
• Ability to create accurate Croatian rewrites and reference answers
• Professional English proficiency at C1 or above for following guidelines and providing detailed feedback

Helpful Background

A degree or equivalent professional experience in linguistics, Croatian language or literature, communications, journalism, translation, or a related field is helpful. Experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content quality assurance, education, or rubric-based evaluation is also relevant.
