About AI Training in Molecular Biology

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Scientific experts help prepare, evaluate, and structure high-quality examples so AI systems can better understand specialized concepts, reason through technical material, and communicate accurately.

In this role, your molecular biology expertise supports expert-level scientific content, structured documentation, evaluation, and human review workflows. Your knowledge can help shape how AI handles complex biological questions and experimental information.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Molecular Biology AI Training Specialist with advanced expertise in CRISPR, gene editing, molecular assays, sequence analysis, and cellular systems. You will combine hands-on wet-lab knowledge with careful evaluation, precise communication, and rigorous documentation.

This is a contractor, part-time opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The listed experience level is entry level, while the role itself requires advanced hands-on CRISPR and molecular biology capabilities. Compensation is $70-$90 per hour.

  • Contractor and part-time engagement
  • 20+ hours per week
  • $70-$90 USD per hour
  • English-language work
  • Eligibility varies by the countries listed for this opportunity

What You'll Do

You will design, optimize, and execute CRISPR-based gene editing experiments while translating experimental information into structured formats that support AI training and human review. The work requires accurate scientific reasoning, reproducible documentation, and close attention to molecular detail.

  • Develop cloning strategies for novel constructs and cell lines
  • Perform genotyping and PCR-based assays
  • Use sequence analysis to validate genetic modifications
  • Design synthetic DNA and RNA sequences
  • Contribute to screening logic for high-throughput workflows
  • Translate experimental data into structured formats for AI training and review
  • Research and characterize molecules, organelles, and cellular organization
  • Document procedures and results for reproducibility and knowledge transfer

Required Qualifications

Applicants must bring substantial practical expertise in molecular biology and gene editing, along with the ability to explain and document complex scientific work clearly. A bachelor's degree or higher in molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field is required.

  • Advanced hands-on experience with CRISPR gene editing
  • Extensive experience with cloning, genotyping, and PCR-based assays
  • Strong knowledge of sequence analysis and molecular screening strategies
  • Experience designing synthetic DNA or RNA sequences
  • Ability to analyze molecular and organelle functions within cells
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Precise scientific documentation and strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to data accuracy, workflow optimization, and experimental rigor

Helpful Background

Experience with AI training or data annotation can help you contribute effectively to scientific review workflows, though the core requirement is advanced molecular biology expertise. Collaboration across disciplines and familiarity with structured biological data are also valuable.

  • Developing or evaluating rubrics for AI or data annotation workflows
  • Familiarity with datasets, protocols, and human review processes
  • Previous collaboration with interdisciplinary or remote teams
  • Experience with data-driven biology projects
