OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. OpenTrain AI recruits contractors for specialized projects where expert human judgment helps improve the quality, reliability, and usefulness of modern AI systems.
This opportunity lets you apply your legal experience to advanced evaluation work while building a durable record of expert contributions in a fast-growing field.
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Legal experts create challenging examples, review model-generated answers, and identify whether responses are accurate, clear, useful, and grounded in applicable law.
Your analysis can help establish reliable standards for expert-quality outputs, including how AI handles practical lawyer scenarios, legal research, contracts, regulatory judgment, and risk assessment.
OpenTrain is recruiting a Contract Review Attorney specializing in commercial contract legal review. You will create expert legal tasks and gold-standard solutions grounded in practical lawyer work, then assess contributor and model-oriented outputs against demanding standards.
The role combines commercial contract expertise, legal research, regulatory judgment, careful evaluation, and the ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable recommendations.
You will analyze legal issues, apply relevant laws and principles, identify risks, and assess the accuracy and usefulness of legal responses. You will refine outputs for clarity, practical application, and expert-level reliability.
You will also review and calibrate contributor output, establish dependable evaluation standards, and escalate genuine edge cases or unclear criteria to the appropriate subject-matter lead.
This project is intended for experienced legal professionals, ideally at the Senior Associate, Counsel, or equivalent level in a law firm or corporate legal department. The listed project experience level is entry level, but the role itself requires substantial professional legal practice and specialized commercial contract expertise.
A JD, active bar admission, or equivalent regional legal qualification and professional license is required. A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is also accepted.
Apply if you are a practicing or recently practicing attorney who can combine detailed contract knowledge with practical legal judgment. This role is especially suited to professionals who enjoy analyzing difficult issues, explaining risk clearly, and evaluating whether written legal work would genuinely help a lawyer or client.
Prior AI evaluation or data-labeling experience is not required. Your legal expertise, careful reasoning, and ability to apply consistent standards are the central qualifications.
