The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Contract Redlining Attorney to support legal AI training and evaluation. You will work with AI-generated contract responses and technology redlining exercises, helping AI systems improve risk identification, contract interpretation, precision, and legal judgment.

This is a part-time, remote contractor opportunity with flexible scheduling. The project is expected to require approximately 20 hours per week over one to three months.

What You'll Do

You will apply practical technology-transactions experience to realistic contract scenarios and provide clear, consistent feedback that can be used to improve legal AI systems. The work requires careful analysis, strong written communication, and the ability to turn legal judgment into measurable evaluation standards.

• Perform simulated negotiations and redlining exercises involving technology agreements.
• Review AI responses to contract scenarios and provide precise legal feedback.
• Create objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for consistent legal AI assessment.
• Identify contractual risk and interpret complex commercial language.
• Collaborate with product and research teams to refine data, guidelines, and best practices for AI-driven contract review.
• Translate legal expertise into precise, actionable feedback for AI systems.

Requirements

This role is designed for an attorney with substantial in-house technology-transactions experience and a strong understanding of commercial contract drafting, review, and negotiation. You should be comfortable evaluating nuanced legal language and explaining your reasoning clearly to cross-disciplinary teams.

• At least three years of in-house experience focused on technology transactions.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating MSAs, NDAs, and DPAs.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, analytical, and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify contractual risk and interpret complex commercial language.
• Ability to create consistent grading criteria for legal AI responses.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to translate legal judgment into precise, actionable model feedback.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Experience collaborating with product or research teams.
• Prior exposure to AI, legal technology, or training initiatives is helpful.
• English-language work.
