About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.
About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Coding Puzzle Solver to create and evaluate reproducible software solutions for AI training. You will tackle self-contained algorithmic, debugging, logic, and technical reasoning challenges that test advanced AI models. The role involves working through unfamiliar codebases and terminal environments, checking correctness against explicit or hidden constraints, and reviewing AI-generated solutions for flawed logic, incomplete reasoning, edge-case failures, and technical requirement violations.
What you will do
Solve coding, logic, debugging, and technical reasoning challenges. Translate precise or ambiguous requirements into implementable solutions. Select suitable algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving strategies. Implement efficient solutions in an appropriate general-purpose programming language. Work in terminal-based development environments and existing codebases. Debug issues involving code, tests, dependencies, and environment configuration. Develop tests and verification methods that distinguish correct solutions from superficially plausible ones. Review AI-generated code and reasoning for errors, missing cases, and constraint violations. Produce clear, reproducible results that can be executed and evaluated automatically. Explain implementation decisions, reasoning, and trade-offs clearly.
Required skills
Strong algorithmic problem-solving ability. Proficiency in at least one of C++, Python, Java, Rust, Go, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript. Strong understanding of common data structures, algorithms, complexity, and correctness. Experience debugging unfamiliar code or solving technically ambiguous problems. Ability to work independently in terminal-based environments and produce testable, reproducible software solutions. Clear written and verbal technical communication.
Helpful background
A public or otherwise verifiable Codeforces profile demonstrating meaningful competitive-programming experience is helpful. Experience participating in or judging competitive C++ events, open-source programming work, or recognized competitive-programming achievements is also helpful.
Schedule, location, and compensation
This is a flexible, global remote contractor role requiring approximately 15 hours per week. You may choose the hours and days you work, including weekends if desired. Compensation is listed at $50‑$80 per hour. The role also describes output-based task compensation, so the applicable compensation structure should be confirmed before work begins.
Why work with OpenTrain
OpenTrain gives freelancers one place to manage AI training opportunities instead of rebuilding proof of work on every platform. A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you show credible experience, discover roles that match your skills, and turn AI training and data-labeling work into a long-term portfolio.
You apply here in about two minutes; the application finishes on the hiring platform, with a short AI interview if you are shortlisted.
