Role Overview

OpenTrain is hiring a Chinese (Simplified) QA Lead to review AI-generated Simplified Chinese content and to QA trainer and contributor work for Mainland China projects. You will ensure outputs meet project guidelines and rubrics, provide precise written feedback, and help maintain consistent style, terminology, tone, and formatting across contributor work.

This is a remote, contractor role for contributors based in Mainland China. The expected minimum time commitment is 20+ hours per week and the role pays up to $35 USD per hour.

What You’ll Do

You will review and evaluate Simplified Chinese items against project-specific rubrics and guidelines, give clear corrective feedback, and help scale QA processes so contributor work stays consistent and high quality.

• Review Simplified Chinese outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, tone, cultural appropriateness, and meaning preservation.
• Evaluate trainer and contributor work against project guidelines and rubrics (EVALUATION_RATING tasks).
• Write precise, actionable feedback and escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
• Communicate guideline updates and workflow changes to trainers and QAs.
• Support onboarding, training calls, documentation, style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, and honeypots.
• Help reactivate inactive contributors and track follow-ups to sustain quality.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the skill and experience requirements below to be considered. All requirements come from project needs and cannot be substituted with unrelated qualifications.

• Native or near-native Simplified Chinese writing judgment focused on Mainland China Mandarin.
• Strong English communication skills for following guidelines and providing clear written feedback.
• Experience in Simplified Chinese writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related review workflows.
• Deep understanding of grammar, punctuation, terminology, register, tone, and localization expectations.
• Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, dashboards, trackers, and project management systems.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and experienced collaborating with remote trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs.

Helpful Background

The following backgrounds are useful but not strictly required. They indicate familiarity with the types of tasks you’ll be doing and help you move into leadership or larger-scale QA responsibilities faster.

• Degree in Chinese, Mandarin, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Experience with AI training, LLM evaluation, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based QA processes.

Working Details

This contractor role is part-time and remote. Projects are text-focused (dataType: TEXT) and use evaluation/rating label types. OpenTrain is the contracting organization for this position and manages hiring and contracting paperwork.
