About AI Training and Localization

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People review model outputs, write examples, rate responses, translate content, and provide feedback that helps AI systems become more accurate, useful, and culturally appropriate.

Localization experts play an important role by checking terminology, tone, meaning, and cultural nuance. Your judgment helps ensure that AI-generated content works naturally for Mandarin-speaking audiences while following the original prompt and intended meaning.

  • Evaluate and improve generative AI responses
  • Apply language, editorial, and cultural judgment
  • Help shape how modern AI systems communicate
  • Build experience in a fast-growing field with flexible project work

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Chinese Mandarin AI Evaluation and Localization Expert to assess AI-generated responses and provide detailed feedback. You will evaluate reasoning quality, accuracy, clarity, logical consistency, and adherence to prompts.

The role combines Mandarin localization judgment with AI response evaluation. You will also create language content, fact-check localized information, compare model outputs, and write explanations or model solutions that demonstrate correct methods.

  • Subject matter focus: AI response evaluation
  • Intermediate experience level
  • Text-based AI training work
  • Supported task types include evaluation rating, text generation, question answering, and RLHF

What You’ll Do

You will make careful, evidence-based quality decisions across Mandarin-language AI content. Strong performance requires close attention to both linguistic detail and the underlying reasoning of each response.

  • Review AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, and reasoning quality
  • Assess whether responses follow the prompt and identify methodological or conceptual errors
  • Fact-check claims and references in localized content
  • Write high-quality explanations and model solutions when needed
  • Compare multiple AI responses and determine which is strongest
  • Apply Mandarin localization judgment to terminology, tone, and cultural nuance
  • Identify subtle meaning shifts and document quality decisions clearly

Required Qualifications

This role requires native or near-native Mandarin proficiency and at least C1 English reading and writing ability. You should be comfortable evaluating nuanced language, explaining quality decisions, and working carefully with written content.

Professional experience in translation, localization, or linguistic quality assurance is important. Familiarity with established quality frameworks and localization technology will help you make consistent, well-supported judgments.

  • Native or near-native Chinese Mandarin proficiency
  • Minimum C1 English reading and writing ability
  • Strong background in translation, localization, or linguistic QA
  • Experience applying MQM or LQA quality criteria
  • Ability to fact-check localized content and spot subtle meaning shifts
  • Familiarity with CAT tools, translation memory, termbases, terminology management, and automated QA workflows
  • Excellent editorial judgment and careful fact-checking habits
  • Prior AI data training, annotation, or evaluation experience is preferred

Helpful Background

The following experience is helpful but is not presented as a mandatory requirement in the role details. It can support strong performance in complex localization and evaluation work.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field
  • Five or more years of professional localization or translation experience
  • Experience with multilingual localization, style guides, and terminology management
  • Comfort working as an hourly contractor with dependable throughput and clear documentation
