The role

As a Chemical Safety & Toxicology Expert you will review documents, datasets, and AI model outputs, apply project rubrics, and record evidence-based ratings and written feedback. The goal is to produce crisp, consistent judgments that help models learn correct, safe behavior when handling chemical-safety topics.

This is a remote contractor engagement with flexible scheduling set by the worker. OpenTrain AI will contract the engagement; the role expects a commitment of 20+ hours per week.

• Pay: $50–$90 USD per hour (project estimates $8,000–$14,400 based on schedule and duration).

What you'll do day-to-day

Work independently to read source materials and AI-generated outputs, then evaluate them against detailed project guidelines. Your feedback must be clear, evidence-based, and actionable so it can be used to improve model behavior.

• Evaluate model outputs and assign ratings using the project rubric.
• Review and compare source documents, datasets, and model answers for technical accuracy and safety.
• Explain judgments in writing so reviewers and engineers understand the rationale.
• Maintain consistency and quality across repeated review tasks; follow detailed instructions precisely.

Requirements and qualifications

This role requires strong, real-world expertise in chemical safety and toxicology — academic background, professional experience, or language expertise are all valid. Prior AI-training experience is not required unless stated elsewhere on this job page.

• Relevant professional, academic, or language expertise in chemical safety and toxicology.
• Strong background in chemical safety, toxicology, chemical weapons nonproliferation, or industrial chemistry.
• Experience evaluating hazardous materials, precursor chemicals, or controlled-substance risks.
• Fluency in English and strong written communication skills for nuanced feedback.
• Careful attention to detail and the ability to follow rubrics and project instructions consistently.
