The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Canada-based Canadian French voice actor to record high-quality speech for TTS training and evaluation. This contractor, part-time role focuses on natural, expressive recordings across conversational, narrative, and instructional scripts, with careful attention to tone, pacing, pronunciation, and consistency.

Pay: USD $50 per hour. Location: Canada only. Language: native Canadian French (neutral international French delivery). Employment type: contractor, part-time. Data type: audio (data collection / audio recording). Experience level: Intermediate.

What you'll do

You will produce recorded voice samples used to train and evaluate TTS systems. Sessions require consistent delivery and may request multiple takes to capture emotion, emphasis, or stylistic variation.

• Record voice samples across varied scripts for TTS training and evaluation.
• Deliver clear, natural, and expressive speech with consistent accent and delivery.
• Perform multiple takes when different emotion, emphasis, or style is needed.
• Follow recording guidelines for microphone setup, quiet environment, and file formatting.
• Work as a contractor on part-time schedules and deliver recordings to specification.

Requirements

• Native Canadian French fluency with a neutral, accent-free international French delivery.
• Experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcasting (intermediate level).
• Professional or near-professional recording setup (quality microphone and a quiet space).
• Strong control of intonation, diction, pacing, and emotional range; ability to produce consistent takes.
• Comfort performing multiple vocal styles and repeated takes.
• Comfort with voice cloning for the intended AI use case.
