CAM Programmer for Multi-Axis CNC Toolpaths

The work

You will use your CAM expertise to create real-world CNC programming examples and instructional materials that help train AI systems. The work focuses on multi-axis programming, toolpath quality, and clear technical documentation.

• Develop precision CAM toolpaths in Autodesk Fusion 360 for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining.
• Program complex milling and turning geometries in metals and plastics, considering material, tolerance, and machine capabilities.
• Simulate and verify toolpaths to find collisions, gouging, and inefficient cycle times, then resolve those issues.
• Configure, tune, and document post-processors for CNC machines such as Haas and Makera.
• Create setup sheets, tool lists, and strategy documentation for manufacturing professionals.
• Write instructional content, walkthroughs, and guidance on CAM programming techniques and best practices.
• Use first-part results and inspection reports to improve and refine CAM outputs.

What it pays and takes

This is a part-time contractor role. The listing is marked entry level, but the required hands-on experience is substantial.

• Pay: $80-$120 per hour.
• Time: 20+ hours per week.
• Location: Applicants must be based in one of the countries listed for this role.
• Language: Excellent written and verbal English.
• Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on CAM programming experience.
• Software: Demonstrated proficiency with Autodesk Fusion 360.
• Technical knowledge: GD&T, design for manufacturing principles, post-processor configuration, and advanced CNC programming across different materials.
• Communication: Ability to document and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Preferred: Experience creating or delivering CAM training content.
