About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review model outputs, write and improve responses, assess quality against detailed guidelines, and explain their reasoning so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results.

This role focuses on CAD modeling and engineering simulation workflows. Your practical engineering judgment can help AI systems learn how to interpret technical problems, evaluate simulation-related work, and communicate engineering decisions clearly.

  • Remote work with a computer and internet connection
  • Flexible contractor work in a fast-growing technology field
  • Directly influence how AI systems handle specialized engineering tasks

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a CAD and Simulation Consultant with expertise spanning aerospace, mechanical, and electrical engineering. You will support AI training work involving CAD models, simulation outputs, and engineering problem statements.

The role is listed at the entry level in the project details, while the stated requirements include at least 10 years of CAD engineering and simulation-focused experience. Prior AI training experience is not required unless specified elsewhere.

  • Subject area: CAD Modeling and Engineering Simulation Workflows
  • Work type: Part-time contractor
  • Location: Worldwide and fully remote
  • Language: English fluency required

What You'll Do

You will use clear technical reasoning and careful review to help improve AI-generated engineering content. Consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to apply project rubrics are central to the work.

  • Write or improve expert responses and explain your reasoning clearly
  • Review source materials and model outputs against project guidelines
  • Explain judgments so feedback can improve model behavior
  • Maintain consistency and quality across repeated review tasks
  • Define engineering assumptions, constraints, metrics, and acceptance criteria
  • Validate simulation results analytically
  • Communicate technical trade-offs clearly

Requirements

Applicants should bring substantial real-world knowledge of CAD engineering, simulation workflows, and at least one electrical engineering specialization. You must be comfortable working independently, following detailed instructions, and translating technical judgments into precise written feedback.

  • At least 10 years of CAD engineering and simulation-focused experience
  • Practical proficiency with a relevant engineering simulation or CAD tool
  • Expertise in at least one electrical engineering area, such as circuit analysis, power systems, controls, or electronics design
  • Relevant professional, academic, or subject-matter expertise in CAD modeling and engineering simulation workflows
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong written communication and careful attention to detail
  • Ability to follow detailed project instructions and apply rubrics consistently
  • Ability to work independently on remote contractor tasks

Schedule and Compensation

This project requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and allows up to 40 hours per week. You must be available for at least four hours of overlap with Pacific Time.

Compensation is handled through the OpenTrain project budget fields shown on the job page. No hourly or fixed rate is specified in the available project details.

  • Minimum commitment: 20 hours per week
  • Maximum schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Required overlap: at least 4 hours with Pacific Time
  • Contractor and part-time engagement
