  • Remote contract work available worldwide
  • Free OpenTrain account and application process
  • Opportunities to build experience in AI data quality and annotation

About AI Audio Training

AI training is the human work behind systems that understand language, speech, and other forms of data. Audio contributors review recordings, transcribe speech, and check timing and accuracy so AI models can learn from reliable examples.

This work offers a practical way to contribute to cutting-edge technology while developing in-demand skills in transcription, quality assurance, and audio annotation.

  • Flexible, remote work that can fit around other commitments
  • Meaningful contribution to how AI understands spoken Brazilian Portuguese
  • Accessible entry point for people with strong language and listening skills

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Brazilian Portuguese Audio Transcript Editor to review, correct, and refine machine-generated audio transcripts. You will listen to recordings, compare them with transcripts, and ensure that words, accents, punctuation, and timestamps accurately reflect the spoken content.

This is a fully remote, part-time contract role for someone who is comfortable working independently and applying detailed style and formatting guidelines. The expected time commitment is 20 or more hours per week.

  • Contractor position
  • Part-time engagement
  • Worldwide eligibility
  • Pay range: $10-$35 per hour
  • Work schedule: 20+ hours per week

What You’ll Do

You will work directly with audio recordings and existing machine-generated transcripts. Accuracy, consistency, and careful attention to word-level detail are central to the role.

  • Listen to Brazilian Portuguese audio and compare it with machine-generated transcripts
  • Correct misspelled, missing, or incorrect words
  • Fix punctuation and other transcript formatting issues
  • Verify word-level accuracy and precise timestamp alignment
  • Apply detailed style guides consistently across tasks
  • Flag unclear audio, overlapping speakers, and other quality issues
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across large volumes of transcript data
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Required Skills

This role requires native-level Brazilian Portuguese ability, excellent written Portuguese, and the patience to review spoken language closely. You should be comfortable following detailed instructions and using browser-based audio tools.

  • Native Brazilian Portuguese speaker with excellent written command
  • Strong listening skills, including when audio quality varies
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented, patient, and methodical
  • Comfort working at the word level
  • Ability to follow detailed style and formatting rules
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • Comfort using web-based tools and audio playback interfaces

Helpful Background

Previous professional experience is helpful but not required for this entry-level opportunity. Background in transcription, language, subtitles, media quality assurance, or AI data workflows can help you succeed.

  • Transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer experience
  • Subtitling, closed captioning, or subtitle editing experience
  • Linguistics training or a language-related degree
  • Experience with annotation platforms, data-labeling tools, or AI training workflows
  • Audio editing or media quality assurance experience
  • Familiarity with transcription, timing, or alignment software

Who Should Apply

Apply if you are a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker who enjoys careful listening and precise language work. This role may suit people looking for flexible remote work, including those building experience in transcription, audio annotation, or AI training.

  • Native Brazilian Portuguese speakers with strong written language skills
  • Detail-focused contributors who value accuracy and consistency
  • People comfortable managing task-based work independently
  • Candidates available for at least 20 hours per week
