About OpenTrain AI

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling — where contributors start and grow careers teaching AI systems how people speak and write.

We connect people to flexible, remote projects that directly influence how modern AI understands language. This project is managed and paid by OpenTrain AI as a contractor opportunity.

About AI training and why it matters

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work behind smarter, safer models. People prepare and review examples — like transcribed audio — so models learn correct responses and handle real-world language.

This work is remote, often part-time, and accessible: many projects need strong listening and attention to detail rather than formal qualifications, while giving contributors a direct role in shaping cutting-edge systems.

The role

You will listen to Spanish audio clips and produce accurate text transcriptions, identify target words, and label pronunciation or audio-quality issues according to project guidelines. The data type is audio and the labeling work focuses on text generation from speech.

This is a contractor, part-time role using the LABELBOX platform. The project runs for 1+ year and requires a steady weekday commitment; onboarding includes project-specific instructions and examples.

  • Role type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Data type: Audio (Spanish audio recordings)
  • Labeling tools: LABELBOX
  • Label type: Text generation / transcription

What you'll do day-to-day

Follow precise labeling guidelines to transcribe spoken Spanish, mark target words, and note pronunciation variations or minor mispronunciations. You will also assess audio quality and flag clips that are unclear or unusable.

Work independently from home, access audio files through LABELBOX, and submit validated transcriptions according to the project's quality standards and workflow.

  • Listen to short spoken audio clips and transcribe them precisely
  • Identify and label target words within recordings
  • Note pronunciation variants, mispronunciations, and audio quality issues
  • Follow instruction sets and annotation examples closely
  • Use LABELBOX to enter transcriptions and labels

Requirements

The project requires native fluency and cultural familiarity with Spanish as spoken in Mexico or Argentina plus proven listening and transcription ability. Prior experience in audio transcription, linguistic annotation, or data labeling is preferred but not strictly required.

You must have a reliable internet connection and be able to work with audio files on your computer. Attention to detail and the ability to follow step-by-step labeling guidelines are essential.

  • Native Spanish speaker from Mexico or Argentina (required)
  • Strong listening and transcription skills
  • Familiarity with spoken language variations and minor mispronunciations
  • Experience in audio transcription, linguistic annotation, or data labeling (preferred)
  • Reliable internet connection and ability to use audio-labeling software

Schedule, pay, and commitment

This is part-time work under 20 hours/week. You must be able to commit at least 1 hour per day, Monday–Friday, for the next 1+ year. Shifts are flexible within that weekday requirement, but regular availability helps ensure steady work.

Pay is hourly at USD 6.50 per hour, paid according to OpenTrain AI contracting terms. You will be onboarded with labeling guidelines and examples before starting paid work.

  • Hourly pay: $6.50 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
  • Time requirement: Less than 20 hours/week; minimum 1 hour/day, Mon–Fri
  • Project duration: 1+ year
  • Employment type: Contractor

Who should apply and how it works

Apply if you are a detail-oriented native Spanish speaker from Mexico or Argentina who enjoys careful listening and accurate transcription work. This role suits people seeking remote, flexible part-time work that contributes directly to how speech-enabled AI understands regional Spanish.

To apply, create an OpenTrain account and submit your application. Successful applicants will receive training materials, annotation guidelines, and access to LABELBOX for the project's tasks.

  • Ideal for entry-level contributors with transcription interest or prior annotation experience
  • You'll receive task-specific training and examples before beginning paid work
  • Work remotely and set your daily schedule within the weekday availability requirement
