The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an Audio Transcription and Alignment Specialist to improve speech data used in AI training. You will correct word-level transcripts, align words and segments to spoken audio with millisecond precision, and apply detailed transcription conventions consistently.

The work may include challenging audio with overlapping speakers, filler words, false starts, accents, dialects, background noise, and unclear passages. You will work independently in a specialized web-based audio labeling tool while following task-specific guidelines.

What You'll Do

You will review and edit transcript text and timing together, making sure the written record accurately reflects the audio. Success in this role requires careful attention to both language quality and precise timing.

• Review transcripts for spelling, grammar, accuracy, formatting, and style-guide compliance
• Edit transcript text and timing in a specialized web-based audio labeling tool
• Align word and segment boundaries precisely with spoken audio
• Distinguish accents, dialects, mumbled words, overlapping speakers, and unclear speech
• Resolve difficult audio cases using task-specific rules
• Maintain consistent quality and dependable turnaround across audio tasks
• Work independently under task-based deadlines

Requirements

This entry-level opportunity requires strong English listening and transcription judgment. You should be comfortable applying detailed, rule-based conventions consistently and learning specialized web-based editing tools.

• Native or near-native English fluency
• Excellent listening comprehension
• Ability to recognize accents, dialects, mumbled words, overlapping speakers, and unclear audio
• Accuracy when applying transcription style guides and formatting conventions
• Ability to align word and segment timing boundaries at millisecond level
• Strong attention to detail, patience, and consistency
• Reliable independent work and task completion

Helpful Background

Previous experience is helpful but not required. Background in transcription, captioning, audio quality assurance, language services, or related work can help you handle complex recordings and detailed annotation standards.

• Professional transcription or closed captioning

• BPO, data entry, language services, or audio post-production
• Experience with waveform editors, subtitle software, or audio labeling tools

Schedule And Compensation

This is a fully remote, flexible hourly contract for talent based in the Philippines. The role is described with an expected commitment of 10 to 40 hours per week and a stated time requirement of 20 or more hours per week.
