Why AI Training Work Matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building AI: people prepare and refine the examples models learn from. This role feeds real production audio and documentation into workflows that improve model behavior.
These projects are typically 100% remote, flexible, and accessible to creators with practical audio skills—an opportunity to do creative, impactful work on a freelance schedule.
The Role
We are seeking an Audio Production Expert to create, edit, mix, and refine multi-track audio projects using Ardour or LMMS. You'll produce high-quality audio assets, document your workflow from initial idea to finished mix, and clearly explain the creative and technical decisions you made.
This is a remote contractor role, part-time at 20+ hours/week, emphasizing experimentation, trial-and-error, and iterative fixes driven by feedback.
What You'll Do
Build and refine audio projects in Ardour or LMMS, starting tracks from scratch through to finished mixes.
Mix multi-track sessions: balance levels, apply EQ, compression, effects, automation, and layer sound elements into polished productions.
Document your workflow step-by-step and explain key creative and technical decisions in writing and speech.
Deliver finished audio that reflects careful editing, artistic judgment, and professional standards.
Collaborate remotely on ongoing feedback and make real-time corrections as directions evolve.
Requirements
Proven hands-on experience with Ardour or LMMS (required).
Strong audio editing, mixing, and music production workflow knowledge.
Ability to build tracks or mixes from scratch and deliver polished multi-track sessions.
Clear written and verbal communication that describes creative decisions and technical steps.
Portfolio of completed audio production work demonstrating relevant projects and tool usage.
Experience level: Intermediate (practical production experience expected).
Helpful Background
Experience producing music, podcasts, or sound design projects.
Experience teaching, explaining, or documenting audio decision-making or production techniques.
Comfortable adapting to new directions during production and iterating based on feedback.
Work Details, Pay, and Logistics
This is a worldwide, remote contractor role. You should be fluent in English for written and spoken explanations. The time expectation is 20+ hours per week, part-time and flexible.
Compensation is pay-per-hour in USD; the posting lists an hourly range of $19–$65/hr. OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization and will manage agreements and payments.
