The role

OpenTrain is hiring Assamese language specialists for hourly remote contractor work focused on reviewing AI-generated Assamese content and creating high-quality reference answers. You will assess accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, prompt adherence, meaning preservation, register, logical consistency, and factual claims.

• Employment type: Contractor, part-time.
• Workload: 20+ hours per week.
• Location: Applicants based in India, Bangladesh, or Bhutan only.
• Data type: TEXT; label types include evaluation/rating, text generation, and RLHF.

What you'll do

Daily tasks center on evaluating and improving Assamese-language model outputs and producing gold-standard content that models should learn from. Expect both analytical review and creative rewriting.

• Review AI outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural fit.
• Identify mistranslation, ambiguity, register issues, and logical inconsistencies.
• Fact-check claims when needed and rewrite content to best-practice Assamese standards.
• Create prompts and gold-standard Assamese answers across domains like general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing.
• Evaluate and rank multiple model responses for correctness, fluency, tone match, and safety.
• Detect unsafe or misleading content, hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language.

Requirements

You must meet the stated language, experience, and education requirements. OpenTrain follows detailed rubrics; clear, professional English is required for feedback and guideline adherence.

• Native or near-native Assamese reading and writing ability (required).
• Strong professional English for detailed feedback (required).
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics, Assamese or English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work.
• Deep understanding of Assamese grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and audience adaptation.
• Comfort with multiple registers and regional variation within Assam and diaspora audience needs.
• Experience with AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.

Helpful background

The following skills are not required but will strengthen your application and effectiveness on the project.

• Assamese copyediting or proofreading experience.
• Familiarity with translation quality review and localization workflows.
• Careful judgment when comparing model responses or spotting fabricated claims.

Schedule, pay, and how to apply

This is remote contractor work with hourly pay up to the stated rate. OpenTrain will provide project instructions and rubrics; contributors submit work through our platform and receive payment on an hourly basis.
