The Applied Chemistry Benchmark Specialist Role
As an Applied Chemistry Benchmark Specialist, you will create and verify challenging academic assessment content used to evaluate and advance AI capabilities. The work combines deep subject expertise with careful editorial judgment.
You may work across materials, polymer and electronic chemistry, industrial and process chemistry, energy storage and environmental chemistry, pharmaceutical and agrochemical chemistry, and consumer, food, and specialty chemicals.

What You’ll Do
You will develop rigorous multiple-choice questions and review existing questions for scientific and editorial quality. Each assessment should be self-contained, unambiguous, precisely defined, and capable of testing deep conceptual understanding.
You will also explain the reasoning behind correct answers clearly, using concise intermediate steps so that each solution can be evaluated for accuracy and completeness.
Author original, challenging multiple-choice questions in a chemistry specialty
Review pre-written questions for accuracy, clarity, completeness, precision, and solvability
Rate questions as medium, hard, or expert based on academic difficulty
Provide one correct answer and nine plausible alternatives
Write clear, step-by-step solutions with concise intermediate reasoning
Apply strong reasoning across reaction mechanisms and quantitative analysis
Requirements
This role is listed as entry level within the project structure, but it requires substantial graduate-level chemistry expertise. You should be able to design rigorous academic problems, identify subtle scientific errors, and explain complex technical ideas in excellent written English.
PhD or doctoral candidacy in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong graduate-level knowledge of chemistry concepts
Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and quantitative analysis
Ability to author or verify rigorous academic multiple-choice assessments
Exceptional scientific reasoning and attention to technical precision

Helpful Background
