About OpenTrain AI

OpenTrain AI is the #1 platform for people who want to start and grow careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers find projects, consolidate their proof-of-work, and build a lasting portfolio that demonstrates real experience with AI workflows and annotation tasks.

As the hiring and contracting organization for this role, OpenTrain AI supports remote contributors with clear project scopes, feedback cycles, and opportunities to work on tasks that directly shape how modern AI systems behave.

Why AI training and workflow work matters

AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: people create examples, evaluate outputs, and teach models to handle complex, long-horizon tasks. This work is remote, flexible, and accessible—many projects require domain fluency, attention to detail, or relevant professional experience rather than formal AI degrees.

In this role you'll both design practical business processes that use AI assistants and provide the scenarios and evaluation needed to make those assistants reliable in real operations.

The role

You will design, document, and refine multi-step business workflows that leverage AI assistants and integrations with common productivity tools. This contractor role focuses on turning operational processes into reliable, automatable sequences and on producing the research-backed documentation teams need to implement them.

You will also create real-world scenarios and feedback used to train and evaluate generative AI for long-horizon business tasks, then test and iterate workflow solutions for reliability and scale.

What you will do

  • Design and improve multi-step business workflows that leverage AI assistants.
  • Integrate AI-driven automation with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and data platforms.
  • Analyze operational processes to identify efficiency gains and automation opportunities.
  • Document workflow logic, integration strategies, and recommended productivity improvements.
  • Provide realistic scenarios and structured feedback to help train and evaluate AI models (text generation and evaluation tasks).
  • Test and refine workflow solutions to ensure reliability and scalability across operations.

Requirements

Candidates must have hands-on experience using AI assistants to complete multi-step professional tasks and be comfortable reasoning about long-horizon business workflows. This is listed as an entry-level role, but practical experience with the tools and types of work below is required.

  • Extensive hands-on experience using AI assistants in professional work.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, or similar collaboration suites.
  • Experience with workflow automation or process optimization (practical familiarity required).
  • Strong research, analysis, and documentation skills with clear written and verbal communication.
  • Background in business operations or related functions and comfort iterating on remote feedback.

Compensation and logistics

This is a remote contractor engagement. OpenTrain AI hires directly for the contract.

Time commitment: 20+ hours per week. Employment type: contractor, part-time.

  • Pay: $30 to $90 USD per hour (hourly contractor work).
  • Work language: English. This role is open worldwide; you may work from any country.

Who should apply and how it works

Apply if you enjoy turning messy business processes into repeatable, automatable workflows, and if you have experience using AI assistants day-to-day. You should be comfortable producing clear documentation, running small experiments, and providing structured feedback that helps models improve.

OpenTrain AI projects are designed for flexible, remote contributors. Successful applicants iterate quickly on feedback, deliver clear writing and diagrams, and think like both an operator and a teacher for AI systems.

  • Labeling work will include text-generation and evaluation-rating tasks tied to workflow scenarios.
  • All substantive role details above are required; applications should highlight relevant examples of AI-assisted workflows you have built or improved.
