The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting an AI Coding Task Developer to create realistic, interesting, and challenging coding tasks for next-generation AI models. You will design tasks focused on feature implementation and bug fixes, then build deterministic verifier scripts that accept correct solutions and reject incorrect ones.

This is a remote, part-time contractor role for approximately 15 hours per week. You set your own hours and days, including weekends if desired. The role is open to candidates worldwide, and selected experts are expected to start within 24 to 48 hours of completing onboarding.

What You'll Do

You will apply backend engineering expertise to produce high-quality coding data for AI training. The work requires precise task design, reliable automated evaluation, and collaboration with the project team to refine difficulty and quality.

• Create realistic coding tasks focused on feature implementation and bug fixes
• Design interesting and challenging problems for AI systems to solve
• Implement deterministic verifiers that distinguish correct and incorrect solutions
• Use backend engineering experience to produce high-quality real-world training data
• Collaborate with the project team to refine task difficulty
• Help ensure coding tasks and verifier scripts meet quality standards

Required Skills and Assessment

Candidates will be assessed on backend development experience, software quality practices, and the ability to turn engineering problems into clear, automatically verifiable challenges. The role is listed as entry level, but the work requires strong practical technical skills in one or more supported programming languages.

• Strong backend development experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or a similar language
• Track record building scalable services and APIs
• Comfort with debugging, performance work, and automated testing
• Solid code review instincts
• Understanding of secure coding principles
• Ability to create realistic, clear, and unambiguous coding challenges
• Ability to implement deterministic automated verifiers

Compensation and How to Apply
