The Role

OpenTrain is hiring a Visual Studio Code Task Creator and Workflow Recorder to support AI training through realistic software development activities. You will design practical tasks in VS Code, prepare the project environment, document the context and goals, and record yourself completing the workflow.

Tasks may include code editing, file management, search, debugging, formatting, scripts, terminal commands, Git, settings, extensions, notebooks, and workspace organization. The goal is to produce workflows that are authentic, understandable, complete, and reproducible.

What You'll Do

You will prepare the materials and environment needed before recording, then complete and document the workflow clearly on your computer. You will also review your work to make sure the final recording and written materials meet project expectations.

• Design realistic, challenging, and reproducible developer tasks
• Prepare files, projects, extensions, dependencies, runtimes, and references
• Set up project environments for accurate workflow recording
• Record complete and understandable workflows in Visual Studio Code
• Demonstrate relevant editor and developer-tool features
• Document task context, goals, steps, and project details in clear English
• Review recordings and documentation for realism, completeness, clarity, and alignment with project guidelines

Requirements

You should have hands-on Visual Studio Code experience and be comfortable designing and recording computer-based developer workflows. The role requires careful preparation, clear technical documentation, and the ability to work independently while following project instructions.

• Hands-on experience with coding, file editing, debugging, extensions, terminal workflows, Git integration, or related development tasks
• Understanding of VS Code Explorer, search, extensions, terminal, debugging, settings, formatting, source control, and workspace organization
• Ability to manage files and project environments
• Ability to prepare required runtimes, dependencies, extensions, and references
• Ability to create authentic and reproducible developer workflows
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
• Strong attention to detail when recording and reviewing work
• Reliable self-directed work habits and comfort recording computer-based workflows
